Cat’s Eye Nebula (NGC 6543) is a planetary nebula in the constellation Dragon.
It is structurally one of the most complex of known nebulae.
High-resolution images of the Hubble Space Telescope revealed extraordinary structures such as knots, jets, and arch-like features.
Visually, he resembles the cat’s eye and was named accordingly.
It was discovered by Wilhelm Herschel on 15 February 1786 and was the first (!!!) planetary nebula whose spectrum was investigated (by the amateur astronomer William Huggins 1864).
