20181202 Japan: Meaning of the crane

🇯🇵  日本美術  🇯🇵

クレーン

Meaning of the CRANE:

A crane is not only beautiful,
but has a traditional meaning:
For a long time the cranes
(Japanese Tsuru / つ る / 鶴)
in Japan are known as symbols for a long life.

There is accordingly the saying:

„The crane lives a thousand years, the turtle ten thousand years / 鶴 は 千年, 亀 は 万年“.

Therefore, cranes are used as a symbol
of „long time“ or „eternal“.

Japan has a very long (!) and wonderful history and tradition.
I think that’s very, very interesting. I’ve always been interested.
